Hello! I am Laurie Wilson, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Professional Counselor, and Certified Substance Abuse Counselor with over 25 years of experience specializing in individual, couples, and family therapy. I maintain a private practice in Dumfries, Virginia, and I provide online counseling services.
I am the spouse of a retired military service member and have worked in private practice as a therapist throughout the United States and in Germany. I have also worked as a therapist, clinical supervisor, and clinical director in local government, federal government, and in a hospital setting. I specialize in working with military families, blended families, government employees, and health care providers on a wide variety of concerns including: pre-marital counseling, marital issues, parenting issues, relationship stress, work-related stress, school-related stress, post-traumatic stress disorder, adjustment disorder, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, self-esteem concerns and transition issues.
My counseling style is solution-focused, holistic, and interactive, and I provide services that are non-judgmental and culturally sensitive. I use a combination of treatment approaches to include: systems therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-focused therapy, strength-based, and mindfulness techniques. I want to work with you to create a therapeutic partnership where we work together to create a treatment plan to meet your specific and unique needs.
Hi, I’m Dr. Sharon Cross (she/her), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker offering virtual therapy sessions across Virginia. I bring over 30 years of experience in the mental health field, having worked in diverse settings such as residential treatment centers for children and adolescents, community mental health agencies, substance abuse programs, and services supporting military and veteran populations.
I work with preteens, adolescents, adults, and seniors. My areas of focus include anxiety, depression, PTSD, women’s issues, and work-related stress. I also support clients navigating ADD/ADHD, grief and loss, anger management, cultural and identity concerns, maternal mental health, and trauma recovery.
My therapeutic approach is holistic and client-centered. I draw primarily from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) but also incorporate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Strength-Based Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). Therapy with me is designed to be a safe space where you feel supported, empowered, and truly heard.
I received my PhD from Virginia Commonwealth University and am licensed to practice in Virginia. I identify as Black/African American and offer sessions in both English and Spanish.
